Discover the real heart of northern Vietnam on this multiday cycling expedition. You will pass by some stunning scenery with friendly locals greeting you along the way. You will stay in a traditional village deep in the mountains and experience the way of life there. You will cycle through rice terraced valleys and over tough mountain passes before taking a well-earned rest in the awe inspiring Halong Bay where you will overnight on a traditional Junk.

Hotels and services in the itinerary are proposed for your review only. We will book services once we receive your official booking requirement and payment. Booking status will be advised afterwards. In case we cannot book hotel as we initially proposed due to their unavailability, we will choose a similar hotel in the same category and discuss with you for your final approval as the price may change.

Hotel check out is normally 12:00pm but sometimes earlier. Check in is after 14:00pm. Early check in and late checkout is subject to availability only.

Although it is our intention to operate the itinerary as detailed in the proposal, we cannot be held responsible for any last minute changes made as a result of climatic conditions, alterations to flight schedules or other operational factors.

Singles Joining – If you are joining a trip as a solo traveler please add the single supplement to the trip price. If you are willing to share a room please let us know and we will do our best to find someone for you to share with, we will inform you before finalizing the final payment of the trip.



A non-refundable deposit of 30% of total trip cost per person is required to confirm your tour. Please note that the full balance, as indicated on our confirmation which will be sent to you, is due 45 days before your departure date. If you are booking within 45 days of your departure date the full amount is due when booking. Failure to pay by the due date could be considered as a cancellation on your part and we reserve the right to impose cancellation charges as detailed below (These are default conditions unless you have a predetermined, overriding agreement with us).



Notice of cancellation of your holiday by you once it has been confirmed must be in writing to us. Cancellation charges will be calculated from the date we receive written notice of cancellation. Any amendment charges that arose before the cancellation, and any deposits paid for any pre-booked items or services will still be payable.

If we cancel your holiday you will receive a full refund of all monies paid to us.

Day 1

Hanoi Arrival

Upon arrival at Noi Bai International Airport, our guide will welcome and transfer you to the hotel (single time group transfer). If clients arrive at different times, airport pick up fee will be charged. After check in, freshen up and relax after a long flight. If time permits, we will enjoy a walking tour around Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter with themed streets and ancient temples. Explore the legendary capital and discover the best scenes of daily life and history before enjoying dinner at the local Hanoian restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 2

Hanoi – Hoa Binh – Mai Chau

Depart Hanoi early for Mai Chau and enjoy the superb drive. From the top of Cun Mountain, you can admire the panorama of Mai Chau’s green valley with stilt houses dotting the landscape. At Cao Phong, get off the bus and pick up your bikes to start cycling on beautiful undulating roads passing through cane plantations and rice paddies. Enjoy lunch en route and finish the ride at the homestay. Tonight you will have a homestay experience with the friendly and welcoming hosts who will introduce you to some of their local traditions. Overnight at home stay Xa Linh village. (Note: the homestay standard is very basic. The bedding and mosquito net may be not like at a hotel; however, this is a great way to get in tune with nature and to experience life in Mai Chau).

Day 3

Mai Chau – Moc Chau

Start another spectacular and challenging day as the majority of it is uphill! Transfer out of Mai Chau to the Tong Dau crossroads and start riding on winding well-maintained roads while ascending the Mai Chau Pass. You’ll head into a region predominantly populated by Black Thai before reaching the Moc Chau plateau situated at 1000 metres. You’ll then pass through plum orchards and corn and tea plantations. Moc Chau is renowned for its banh sua (milk cake) and tea products.

Day 4

Moc Chau – Phu Yen

Leave Moc Chau and ride down the excellent roads enjoying the huge tea plantations on the way to Phu Yen. The mountainous countryside offers some fantastic views – worthy of a few photos. Overnight in Phu Yen.

Day 5

Phu Yen – Thu Cuc – Nghia Lo

Ride south along quiet roads zigzagging their way through lush jungles, verdant mountains and charming villages. You will have 2 small passes to tackle before hitting the main junction at Thu Cuc where you rest for lunch at this small town. You then continue to ride on good tarmac all the way to Nghia Lo stopping to visit ethnic minority villages and interacting with the locals and arriving at Nghia Lo later in the day.

Day 6

Nghia Lo – Tu Le – Than Uyen

Today the ride is a mixture of steep ascents and equal descents, including some challenging passes to deal with. The trails wind their way along the mountain ranges and you’ll be rewarded with exceptional views of the Chan Hung Mountain. The route offers not only an excellent ride but also has many points of interest, your guide will stop often at the traditional hamlets of the La Ha, H’mong and Ma people. The ride ends at Tu Le village where a shuttle takes you the rest way to Than Uyen for your overnight stay.

Day 7

Than Uyen – Than Thuoc - Sapa

A fantastic bike ride from Than Uyen to Than Thuoc village awaits you today. The trails take you up and down hilly mountains, through Thai and H’mong hamlets and commands magnificent views of the surrounding rugged cliffs and terraced rice paddies. The second part of the day is a little more challenging climbing over the 2147metres ‘Heaven’s gate’ pass. From the peak of this pass, you are rewarded with a panoramic view of Lai Chau province. Our bus will pick you up at the foot of the pass and transfer you the rest way to Sapa via Silver waterfall. Overnight in Sapa homestay with dinner.

Day 8

Biking Suoi Ho – Ma Tra – Ta Phin - Hanoi

Today enjoy a gentle cycle to discover Sapa's quaint hill tribe villages, taking in the different traditions, cultures and costumes of the minority groups. Ride downhill through beautiful orchid gardens and pine forests until you reach a small village of Suoi Ho inhabited by Black Hmong ethnic minority. Their house is normally built without windows due to the cold weather in the winter. Continue your cycling through rice paddy fields and spectacular scenery to Ma tra. Chance to see tea plantations and cardamom gardens (in season) along the way. End your day at Ta Phin village where 2 ethnic groups, the Black Hmong and Red Dao have been living in harmony for generations. Then transfer to Lao Cai and check in to Thien Hai Hotel (standard room for day use 6 hours) for you to refresh before boarding an overnight train to Hanoi.

Day 9

Hanoi – Halong Bay (Overland) – Private vehicle with guide

Arrive at the train station in Hanoi at 05:00 am, transfer directly to a local restaurant for breakfast and relax, then depart for a 3.5 hour drive to Halong Bay with a quick rest stop at Dai Viet Center - the best place for a toilet stop and to stretch your legs en route. Upon arrival at Halong Wharf, check in and board your junk, settle into your cabin and prepare for lunch on deck while the boat cruises peacefully around the beautiful bay. In mid-afternoon you will visit Sung Sot grotto where stalactites hang from the high ceiling and take on numerous shapes and forms. Later stop for trekking and swimming at Titov island where there is a chance to enjoy a panoramic view of Halong Bay from the top or go kayaking. Return to the boat and prepare for a fresh seafood set dinner on the bay tonight. Night-time squid fishing or watching films is available on board after dinner for you upon request.

Day 10

Halong Bay – Hanoi (Overland)

Wake up early to see sunrise on the sundeck. Then enjoy breakfast on board before visiting Luon cave and other islands by smaller boat. Return to the boat, prepare your luggage and check out of your cabin. On the way back to the shore lunch is served on land at Cua Vang Restaurant after disembarking (optional). Arrive at the jetty late morning and transfer back to Hanoi. Opt to visit a traditional pottery workshop en route.
Enjoy farewell dinner at local restaurant.

Hanoi Departure (Own ticket)

Free time at leisure until your transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
